Infinity Mirror

Build your own Infinity Mirror using LED strip lights

One of the coolest things we’ve created with LED strip lighting is this crazy looking infinity mirror with RGB LED strip lights. Ultimately it’s a pretty simple design to put together and the final effect is just stunning, a real eye distraction for any floating eyes.

So, here’s how you make one of these bad boys.

Step 1: Decide on which mirror size you want to use and make sure you can get also get another piece of glass or perspex that matches that size.

Step 2: Mount the mirror in a bracket (metal or timber is fine) with a protruding surround so that you can overlay the second piece of glass or perspex over the top.

Step 3: Purchase some one way mirror film from a local distributor or eBay (make sure it has a low VLT, we used 15% for our display) along with a slightly oversized piece of glass or perspex to cover the mirror size completely.  Attach this film to the piece of perspex and mount this approx 50-200mm from the mirror surface.

Step 4: Drill a small hole in the side of the frame for the LED strip light cables. Mount the LED strip in the centre of the surround frame to create the best mirroring effect, install the power supply and any colour controllers you intend on using.
