What is Light Quality / CRI?
Light quality is a measurement of a particular source’s ability to reproduce colours. Often portrayed by the colour rendering / rendition index (CRI).
Sunlight has a CRI of 100, which is the highest possible light quality as sunlight emits most spectrums of light, UV, IR etc.
LED Lighting can come very close to the same CRI as sunlight. However, lower quality LED chip manufacturers and CFL manufacturers cannot even get close to 70 CRI.
What this shows to us is a very dull and lifeless view on the object or area you are looking at.

Here are some real life images of different CRI lamps including a 50W halogen, 10W CREE MC-E and our famous $25 eBay LED globe.
See if you can guess which is cheap LED light.
Whilst these images are of colourful fruit and pencils, you can imagine what will happen to your skin colour, furniture and photos when using a low CRI light.
